Richard Follett

Richard Follett is currently serving as Vice President & Deputy Vice Chancellor (Global) at the University of Exeter since January 2023. Previously, Richard held multiple roles at the University of Sussex from September 1999 to December 2022, including Associate Vice President (International), Professor of American History, Director of International Recruitment and Development, and Deputy Head of the School of History, Art History & Philosophy. Richard has played a pivotal role in developing and implementing international strategies, overseeing substantial growth in study abroad programs, and enhancing the university's profile through global collaborations. Richard's academic contributions include several notable publications in American history, and Richard holds a PhD in American History from Louisiana State University. Prior experience includes lectureships at NUI Galway and Louisiana State University. Richard's educational background also features degrees from the University of London, Swansea University, and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
