Benedikt Schmitz

Benedikt Schmitz is a Lecturer of Private Law at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Law since July 2020, where also serves as a PhD researcher focusing on the interplay between private international law and consumer law. As the founder of Law Talk Media, established in 2016, Schmitz is recognized for initiating Maastricht Law Talk. Previous academic roles include Graduate Research Assistant and Member of Opleidingscommissie LLM at the University of Groningen, as well as a Teaching Fellow in Comparative Contract Law at Maastricht University. Schmitz gained practical experience as a Legal Intern at Van Diepen Van der Kroef Advocaten and held various assistant positions during academic studies, culminating in an educational background that includes multiple LLM degrees from the University of Groningen and a Bachelor of Laws from Maastricht University.
