Markus Perkmann

Excellence Advisory Board at University of Hamburg

Markus Perkmann serves as Vice-Dean (Research & Faculty) and Professor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Imperial College Business School since September 2008. Perkmann has held various roles including Acting Interim Dean and Head of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Department, and Academic Director of the Imperial MBA from 2019 to 2023. In addition, Perkmann is involved with the University of Hamburg's Excellence Advisory Board and serves as Academic Director of the Imperial Enterprise Lab, which promotes entrepreneurial activities among students and alumni. As a Board Member of the Imperial Venture Mentoring Service, Perkmann supports start-ups founded by Imperial affiliates. Prior experiences include Research Fellow positions at Loughborough University and Warwick Business School, where a focus on innovation in the biopharmaceuticals sector was notable. Previous to academia, Perkmann worked with Greychip, an e-learning start-up. Educational credentials include a PhD in Sociology from Lancaster University and a degree in Political Science, Economics, and Philosophy from the University of Vienna.
