Habib Noorbhai, PhD, has a diverse and extensive work experience in the fields of sports, health, technology, and academia. Habib is currently serving as a Fulbright Research Scholar at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, focusing on the intersection of sports, health, technology, and analytics. Prior to this, they held various positions at the University of Johannesburg, including Professor & Director, Associate Professor & Director, and Senior Lecturer. At the University of Johannesburg, they conducted research, developed curricula, managed the Biomedical Engineering & Healthcare Technology Research Centre, and represented the center at conferences. Habib also served as a Lecturer & Academic Consultant at the University of Cape Town, where they assisted students with their research writing skills and provided academic literacy assistance. Habib founded and directed a non-profit organization called The Humanitarians, leading community projects and initiatives. Habib also gained recognition as Mr South Africa 2017. Habib has experience as a lecturer and researcher at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, where they taught sports sciences and conducted research in sports science, biomechanics, and health promotion. Prior to their academic career, Habib worked as a Biokinetics and Fitness Expert and as a Lecturer and Biokineticist at different organizations. Habib also served as the Head of Academics at FIT Principles International Academy, overseeing the strategic direction of the academy and ensuring high standards of fitness training. Habib's work experience demonstrates their expertise and passion for sports, health, research, education, and community engagement.
Habib Noorbhai, PhD, has an extensive education history. Habib obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Exercise Science from the University of Cape Town from 2014 to 2017. Prior to that, they earned their Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Biokinetics from the same university from 2012 to 2014. In 2011, they completed an Honours degree in Biokinetics at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. In 2008 to 2010, they pursued their BA in Sport Psychology with a focus on Human Movement Sciences at the University of Johannesburg.
Additionally, they have obtained certifications in various fields. Habib completed a course on Blockchain and Digital Currency: The Future of Money at the University of Cape Town in an unknown year. Habib also participated in the Teaching Development Programme at Cape Peninsula University of Technology in 2016.
