Ben Cosh is the Director of Computer Engineering and Mathematical Sciences at University of Kent.
Prior to their current role, Cosh served as the Head of School for Mathematical, Physical & Computational Sciences at University of Reading from July 2004 to August 2021. In this role, they were responsible for a large school comprising departments of Meteorology, Computer Science and Mathematics & Statistics. The school had 350 staff members, including 240 academic and research staff, 1000 student FTE and an annual turnover of £30m.
Cosh has strong relationships with the Met Office, ECMWF, WMO and NERC and academic collaborations across the UK and internationally. Ben is also involved in University-wide committees on Procurement, Estates and Facilities and our halls accommodation and is an active member of the University Senate and Leadership Group.
Ben Cosh has a PhD in Mathematics from Goldsmiths, University of London. Ben also has a BSc(Hons) in Mathematics from The University of Sheffield. In addition, they have completed the Developing Leaders programme at Henley Business School. Finally, they have a PGCE in Post Compulsory Education and Training from University of Greenwich.
They are on a team with Alison Ross-Green - Director of HR & Organisational Development, Marian Garcia - Director (Dean) of Kent Business School, and Georgina Randsleyde Moura - Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic Strategy, Planning and Performance. Ben Cosh reports to Karen Cox, Vice-Chancellor and President.
