Robert DiPaola

Acting Provost at University of Kentucky

Dr. Robert S. DiPaola is the Dean of the College of Medicine at the University of Kentucky and Vice President of Clinical Academic Affairs for UK HealthCare.

Dean DiPaola is a first-generation college graduate and completed his medical degree at the University of Utah. After graduation, he pursued an internal medicine residency at Duke University Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in hematology-oncology at the University of Pennsylvania.

With considerable experience in the area of translational research and a primary focus on the study of prostate cancer, he has received several grants from the National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense, and the American Cancer Society – to name a few. His work has led to several clinical trials that have had impact on traditional standards of care.

At the University of Kentucky as Dean he leads and manages all aspects of operations of the College of Medicine with approximately 1,000 full-time faculty and 2,000 learners; has led efforts of a state-wide, four-year program campus expansion program; has launched new educational and research initiatives that have led to increased federal research funding; and is one of four vice presidents as executive leadership within UK HealthCare, a $1.6 billion health care system.
