Carlos Cervantes

Dr. Cervantes joined the University of La Verne in spring 2009. He has nearly 20 years of experience in academic affairs and college student advising and retention. His doctoral dissertation focused on learning communities and their impact on the academic integration and retention of Latino students at a private major research university. His duties are directly related to his dissertation topic, including but not limited to academic advising, college student retention, first-year experience and general programming, academic & student affairs, academic policy management & development, post-admission enrollment management, college student development, and enforcement of student academic code of conduct. Dr. Cervantes is also experienced in areas such as career & graduate school counseling, administrative and faculty committees & task forces, senior thesis and doctoral dissertation committees, research and presentations at regional and national conferences, and college student retention consulting.
