Finance Service People Lead at University of Leeds

Cindy Chapman has a diverse work experience in the field of finance. Cindy started their career in 1990 as an Accounting Technician/Internal Auditor at Anglian Water Services. Cindy then went on to become a Financial Controller UK/Brazil for the same company, where they were responsible for setting up a new Joint Venture in Brazil and managing all financial aspects of the project.

In 1997, they joined Cambridge Optical Co as a Management Accountant, a role they held until 1998. Cindy then moved on to TXU Energy, where they worked as a Management Accountant from 1999 to 2003.

From 2003 to 2006, Cindy worked at the University of Essex as a Finance Manager, overseeing the establishment of the University's Southend campus and managing its finance function. Cindy then joined the University of Leeds in 2006 as a Faculty Finance Manager and subsequently became the Financial Planning and Investments Manager, where they played a key role in financial and strategic planning.

In 2014, Cindy took a career break before rejoining the University of Leeds in 2016 as the Finance Service People Lead. In this role, they were responsible for the development and communication of the finance service, as well as recruitment and staff wellbeing.

From 2020 to 2023, Cindy held the position of Head of Finance - Faculty of Environment at the University of Leeds, where they were responsible for financial reporting, accounting, research funding, and strategic planning.

Throughout their career, Cindy has demonstrated expertise in financial management, strategic planning, and team leadership within the academic and commercial sectors.
