Rich Rainbow is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Liverpool since May 2019, previously serving as a Lecturer in Cardiovascular Cell Physiology at the University of Leicester from July 2008 to April 2019. With a research focus on ischaemia/reperfusion injury, ion channel physiology, and the hormonal regulation of cardiovascular tissues, Rich currently supervises a Post-doctoral Researcher, two PhD students, and an intercalating MSc Medical Student. Rich's earlier roles include a Research Fellow at the University of Leicester, where responsibilities included managing a research group and teaching medical and undergraduate students, alongside supervising multiple students in research initiatives. Prior to this, Rich held postdoctoral positions at the University of Strathclyde and the University of Leicester, specializing in smooth muscle calcium regulation and Kv channel modulation. Rich obtained a Ph.D. in Electrophysiology with Molecular Biology and a B.Sc. Hons in Medical Biochemistry with Physiology and Pharmacology from the University of Leicester.
