Hamish McDougall

Hamish McDougall serves as the Executive Director of the New Zealand Institute of International Affairs since January 2022, focusing on discussions regarding international issues relevant to New Zealand. Additionally, as a Course Content Designer and Head Class Teacher at the University of London, Hamish oversees the online course 'International History since 1945'. Academic credentials include a PhD in international history from the London School of Economics and Political Science, complemented by a Master’s degree in the History of International Relations from the same institution. Previous professional roles encompass positions in marketing communications, media relations, and corporate communications across various organizations, including the Department of Internal Affairs in New Zealand, Grosvenor Group, and Crossrail. Notably, Hamish’s thesis won the prestigious Michael Dockrill Thesis Prize and a marketing campaign led at the Department of Internal Affairs garnered multiple awards for excellence.
