Founding Director Doctoral Programme In Data And Computational Sciences at University of Luxembourg

Stéphane P.A. Bordas has worked in various roles and companies throughout their career. Stéphane P.A. is currently a Fellow of the Learned Society of Wales, a position they have held since 2022. In 2020, they founded Ariana Technologies and served as the Chief Scientific Officer. Stéphane P.A. was also a Clyde Visiting Professor at the University of Utah and a Cofounding Director and Organizer at European Crucible in the same year. From 2013 to the present, Bordas has held multiple positions at the University of Luxembourg, including Founding Director of the Doctoral Programme in Data and Computational Sciences, Professor of Computational Mechanics, Head of Computational and Data Sciences, and Special Advisor for Scientific Computing. Stéphane P.A. was a Fellow at the Institute of Advanced Studies at Université de Strasbourg from 2013 onwards. Bordas has also worked as an Editor for Advances in Applied Mechanics at Cardiff University from 2009 to present. Alongside their role as Professor of Engineering, they received an ERC Starting Grant for their work in surgical simulation from 2012 to 2017. Previously, they served as the Director of the Institute of Mechanics and Advanced Materials at Cardiff University. Stéphane P.A. also participated in the EPSRC Sandpit in eXtreme Computing in 2010. Other positions held by Bordas include Visiting Professor at Université de Franche-Comté, Adjunct Professor at The University of Western Australia, and Organizer at the International Centre for Mechanical Sciences.

Stéphane P.A. Bordas (FLSW) has an extensive education background. Stéphane P.A. obtained their PhD in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from Northwestern University from 1999 to 2003. Additionally, they pursued Computational Mechanics, earning a Ph.D. M.Sc in the same field from Northwestern University during the same period. Before their doctoral studies, they completed a Master of Science in Civil Engineering and Project Management from Ecole spéciale des Travaux publics, du Bâtiment et de l'Industrie from 1995 to 1998. Stéphane P.A. also attained a Master of Science in Structural Engineering from the same institution from 1995 to 1997. Prior to these degrees, Stéphane completed their undergraduate studies, earning a BSc in Mathematics and Physics from Lycée Saint-Louis from 1993 to 1995, and a Baccalauréat in Mathematics and Physics from Lycee Montaigne from 1987 to 1993. Stéphane has also achieved certifications as a Peer Reviewer and Verified Peer Reviewer from Publons.
