Andrew Cissna is an experienced lighting designer and educator with a distinguished career in the performing arts. Currently serving as an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Maryland's Maya Brin Institute for New Performance since August 2017, Cissna previously held the role of lecturer in the graduate lighting design program at the University of Maryland School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies. Extensive experience includes positions as Production Manager and Technical Supervisor at Spoleto Festival USA from 2011 to October 2023, along with various roles in lighting design at renowned organizations such as the Atlas Performing Arts Center, Theater Alliance, and The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Cissna holds a Master of Fine Arts in Lighting Design from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in the same field from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.
