Efrain E. Rodriguez is a Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Maryland since 2012, with a focus on the preparation and characterization of functional inorganic materials and synthesis of metastable transition metal compounds. Rodriguez serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the American Institute of Physics since August 2020 and held the position of Visiting Research Scientist at the Max-Planck Institute for Solid State Research in Stuttgart, Germany, from January to August 2022. Previously an Experienced Researcher Fellow with the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in 2022, Rodriguez worked as a National Research Council Postdoctoral Associate at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) from July 2009 to July 2012, specializing in iron-based superconductors. Earlier experience includes serving as a Graduate Research Assistant at Los Alamos National Laboratory from 2006 to 2009. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Materials from UC Santa Barbara (2004-2009) and a Bachelor's of Science in Materials Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1999-2003).
