Patrick G. O'Shea is an accomplished academic and researcher with extensive experience in higher education and advanced scientific research. Currently serving as a Faculty Member, Vice President, and Chief Research Officer at the University of Maryland since 1998, Patrick also holds the position of Chair and Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, as well as Director of the Institute for Research in Electronics & Applied Physics. Prior to this, Patrick was the President of University College Cork from February 2017 to December 2020 and a Faculty Member at Duke University from 1994 to 1998. Patrick's earlier career includes a role as Scientist and Project Leader at Los Alamos National Laboratory, focusing on electron and ion beam physics. Educational qualifications include a BSc in Physics from University College Cork and an MS and PhD in Physics from the University of Maryland.
