Yang Xiao

Yang Xiao is currently a PhD student at the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at the University of Melbourne since August 2025. Prior to this, Yang held the position of AI Engineer at Fortemedia from January 2023 to August 2025, where noteworthy contributions included the development and implementation of a sound event detection system for domestic surveillance applications, leading to a ranking of 4th in the DCASE 2023 task 4A SED challenge. Yang's academic background includes a Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence from Nanyang Technological University Singapore (2021-2022), and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Jilin University (2016-2020), along with relevant studies at Peking University and Kwansei Gakuin University.
