Kathy Gates is an accomplished information technology leader with extensive experience at the University of Mississippi, serving as Chief Information Officer Emerita and previously as Chief Information Officer and Assistant Vice Chancellor for Information Technology. Kathy has played a pivotal role in enhancing academic and administrative computing, leading significant projects such as the establishment of the Galtney Center for Academic Computing and the Faculty Technology Development Center. Prior to their tenure at the University of Mississippi, Kathy worked as a Supercomputer User Consultant at the Mississippi Center for Supercomputing Research and as a Member of Technical Staff at AT&T Bell Labs. Kathy holds a Ph.D. in Engineering Science (Computer Science) from the University of Mississippi and multiple degrees, including a Master of Science in Computer Science and Mathematics from The Ohio State University.
