James Freeman has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. James began their career as a Recreation Supervisor at the City of Omaha in 1967, where they worked until 1988. James then joined Omaha Public Schools as the Director of Recruitment from 1998 to 2003. In 2003, Freeman joined the University of Nebraska at Omaha, initially as the Director of Multicultural Affairs and later promoted to the Senior Director of Inclusion and Director of Multicultural Affairs. In their role at UNO, they oversaw the operations of various departments and worked towards advocating for underrepresented students and improving retention and graduation rates.
