Daran Dodd

Daran Dodd, MPA has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and organizations. Beginning in 2001, Daran worked as a Policy Administrator at the Public Policy Institute. From 2003 to 2005, they served as a Police Officer for the City of Asheville. Following this, Daran worked as a Special Agent/Criminal Investigator/SSA for the North Carolina Department of the Secretary of State until 2011. In the same year, they also held the position of Regional Investigations Manager at Target. From 2010 to 2011, Daran worked as an Adjunct Criminal Justice Instructor at Kaplan University. They then joined the NC Department of Revenue as a Law Enforcement Agent from 2011 to 2015. During this time, they also served as an Adjunct Criminal Justice Instructor at Blue Ridge Community College from 2017 to 2021. From 2015 to 2022, Daran held the role of Chief of Police/Director of Public Safety at Blue Ridge Community College. In 2022, they joined the Housing Authority City of Asheville as the Director of Public Safety and the University of North Carolina Asheville as the Chief of Police.

Daran Dodd, MPA obtained a Doctor of Education (EdD) degree in Educational Leadership from Western Carolina University from 2023 to 2026. Prior to that, they earned a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree in Criminal Justice Management and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Criminal Justice, both from Western Carolina University. They also completed an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Criminal Justice from Asheville-Buncombe Community College. In addition to their academic qualifications, Daran Dodd holds several certifications including FBI Command College, Certified Taser Instructor, Command College Class 1901, Stop the Bleed Instructor, Certified Glock Armorer, and NC General Law Enforcement Instructor.
