Kate Johnson, Ed.D. has a diverse work experience spanning over several institutions. Kate began their career at the University of Tennessee as a Hall Director in 2002. Kate then worked as an Area Coordinator at Wesleyan University from 2004 to 2005. Following this, they served as a Residence Director at Keene State College from 2005 to 2008. In 2008, they joined Appalachian State University and held various roles, including ACT Assistant Director, Leadership & Outreach, ACT Associate Director, Community Service, and ACT Associate Director, Community Partnerships. Most recently, they have been working as the Director of the Key Center for Community Engaged Learning at the University of North Carolina at Asheville since 2018.

Kate Johnson, Ed.D. obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of New Hampshire in 2000. From 2000 to 2002, they pursued their Master of Science degree in Education at Missouri State University. Finally, from 2014 to 2022, they attended Appalachian State University, completing their Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) with a concentration in Educational Leadership.
