John Bare

John Bare currently serves as the Charles Shaffer Distinguished Fellow and Professor of Practice in Philanthropy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. With significant experience in philanthropy and community engagement, Bare is a member of the Board of Advisors for Inclusivv.co and holds the position of Senior Fellow at The Aspen Institute Forum for Community Solutions. Prior roles include Disruptor-in-Residence at Babson College, Vice President of Programs at the John Templeton Foundation, and Senior Vice President at the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, where work focused on food systems, childhood health, and arts initiatives. Bare has also contributed to journalism as a columnist for CNN and has been engaged in academia as a member of doctoral committees and an instructor at Georgia State University. Educational credentials include a PhD and master's degree in Journalism, as well as a BA in radio, television, and motion pictures from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
