Maria Lofton

Maria Lofton has extensive experience in higher education, currently serving as the Senior Assistant Director of Admissions at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill since July 2015. Prior to this role, Maria served as a Graduate Intern for the Promoting Academic Athletic Support (PASS) Program at Southern Wesleyan University, focusing on academic advising for student-athletes. Previous positions include Graduate Community Director at Clemson University, where responsibilities encompassed managing residential communities and advising student leaders, and a Graduate Student Intern role at The American University of Rome, facilitating housing resources and orientations. Additionally, Maria contributed to multicultural programs at Clemson University and worked as an Educational Advisor for the Duke University Talent Identification Program, aiding high-potential students in their college preparation. Maria holds a Master’s degree in Counselor Education from Clemson University and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from North Carolina State University.
