Thomas Walker is the current Senior Advisor for Economic Development & Military Affairs at the University of North Carolina. In this role, they work with University chancellors and all constituents of the system to leverage university assets and research components to improve economic development. Thomas also serves as a liaison with the North Carolina Community College system, K - 12, and other entities to improve access to postsecondary educational opportunities. In addition, they build partnerships and serves the military presence in the state of North Carolina.
Previously, Walker served as President of Grand Island Campus for Central Community College from July 2014 to August 2016. Prior to that, they were the Executive Director of KIPP: St. Louis from July 2009 to July 2011. Thomas also served as Dean of Administrative Services at Metropolitan Community College from July 2007 to July 2009.
Thomas Walker has a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Higher Education Administration from The University of Memphis, a Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) in Human Resources from The University of Memphis, and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political Science from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
