Derek Lake

Derek Lake currently serves as the Associate Director of the Notre Dame Nanoscience and Technology at the University of Notre Dame since March 2019. Prior experience includes roles at SABIC from October 2007 to February 2019, where responsibilities spanned from being a Senior Manager overseeing the America's Analytical team to managing site analytical technology and leading quality labs for various product lines. Derek also worked as an Analytical Chemist at SABIC Innovative Plastics and contributed as a Research Assistant at the University of Delaware, where research focused on automated MALDI analysis and aerosol studies. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Delaware and a B.S. in Chemistry from Lindenwood University. Derek's background is further enriched by experiences as a summer intern at Monsanto and as a backcountry program counselor at Philmont Scout Ranch during the mid-1990s.
