Matt Vander Werf is a Senior Research Computing Cybersecurity Engineer at the University of Notre Dame since June 2013, where responsibilities include enhancing security practices for the Center for Research Computing and managing research projects in compliance with various government IT regulations. Prior to this role, Matt served as an HPC System Administrator, deeply involved in Linux system administration within high-performance computing environments, overseeing security vulnerability scanning, server management, and virtual infrastructure. Matt began a career in technology as a Research Assistant (Student Intern) at the same center, contributing to system administration and security tasks. Earlier experience includes roles as a Lab Consultant and Student Professional at Indiana University South Bend, assisting students with computer usage and maintaining operational efficiency in computer labs. Matt holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Indiana University South Bend and a high school diploma from Bethany Christian High School.
