David Tilly

Council Member at University of Nottingham

David Tilly joined Council in February 2016.

David is an international business lawyer with thirty years' experience, over twenty at a senior level as a partner in leading regional and national law firms. A graduate of Durham University, he trained and worked in the City before moving to Nottingham, in 1994, where he is a Consultant Partner with Geldards LLP. He provides commercial and strategic general counsel advice to a range of entrepreneurs, private businesses and global corporations.

David now combines legal work with independent consultancy and a portfolio of board / advisory roles, both public / charitable and commercial. In addition to his membership of Council he is a non-executive director for a number of private businesses, a trustee of Bromley House in Nottingham, a business representative on the board of One Nottingham, the strategic partnership for the city, and a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

David is a keen supporter of the arts and has been Vice-Chair of Nottingham Playhouse and Chair of Nottingham Contemporary. He lives in Nottingham with his wife Joanna, an educational psychologist, and their daughter, Laura.
