Darren Sutherland

Darren Sutherland is a Senior Specialist in Academic Administration at the University of Ottawa, with responsibilities that include developing programs to enhance student satisfaction and retention while leading benchmarking initiatives. Previously, Darren served as the Indigenous Community Engagement Officer, fostering relationships with Indigenous stakeholders and promoting awareness through workshops and events. Earlier experience includes a role as a research assistant at The Métis Family and Community Research Lab, and as a Musical Programmer for the Asinabka Film & Media Arts Festival, where collaboration with Indigenous artists was key. Darren gained initial experience in a work-study position at the University of Ottawa’s Aboriginal Resource Centre, supporting students and managing resources. Darren holds a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics from the University of Ottawa, earned between 2012 and 2018.
