Dr. Philippe G Merle

Dr. Philippe G Merle currently serves as the Director and Chief of Staff of the Office of the Vice-President for Research and Innovation at the University of Ottawa since August 2022. Prior experience includes a significant tenure at the Department of National Defence, where Dr. Merle held various roles from November 2009 to August 2022, including Chief of Staff at the Quality Engineering Test Establishment and Section Head of the Applied Science Program. Earlier career experiences involve positions at Pharmascience, Concordia University, Utrecht University, and the University of Sussex, focusing on research and development, intellectual property, and academic instruction in organic chemistry. Dr. Merle holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Montpellier and has a comprehensive educational background in the field, beginning with a Bac C in Sciences.
