Peter Liu is a prominent figure in cardiovascular research, currently serving as the Chief Scientific Officer and Vice President of Research at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute since 2012, while also holding a professorship in Medicine and Cellular & Molecular Medicine at the University of Ottawa. At the University of Toronto, Peter Liu has been a Professor of Medicine and Physiology since July 1985, focusing on heart failure, cardiovascular immunology, and biomarker discovery. Additionally, Peter Liu directed the Heart & Stroke/Lewar Centre of Excellence at the Institute of Circulatory & Respiratory Health within the Canadian Institutes of Health Research from 2005 to 2010. Expertise lies in innovative biomarker and therapeutic target validation, as well as translating molecular mechanisms into clinical applications for cardiovascular diseases.
