Rachel Quarrell is a distinguished academic and writer with extensive experience in chemistry and rowing. Currently serving as the course lead for sciences and subject lead for chemistry in the Astrophoria Foundation Year at the University of Oxford, Rachel also lectures on organic chemistry at multiple colleges, including Balliol and Worcester. In addition to an academic role, Rachel has been a rowing correspondent for the Daily and Sunday Telegraph and a feature writer for Row360 magazine since 2002 and 2014, respectively. As a co-founder and current organiser of Oxford Cafe Scientifique, and co-founder and co-editor of Rowing Voice magazine, Rachel contributes significantly to both the academic and rowing communities. Furthermore, Rachel has held trustee responsibilities at the Keith Rae Trust and served as a governor at Dauntsey's School until September 2023. Rachel holds a BA, MA, and DPhil in Chemistry from the University of Oxford.
