Dan Bowling

Visiting Scholar at University of Pennsylvania

Dan Bowling serves as a Senior Lecturing Fellow at Duke University School of Law since August 2005, where teaching focuses on labor and employment law, ethics and professionalism, and well-being in legal practice, earning the 2015 Distinguished Teaching Award. As Managing Principal at Positive Workplace Solutions, LLC since July 2006, Dan collaborates with C-suite executives to enhance workplace performance and engagement using scientific methodologies. Dan is a Visiting Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania from August 2009, leading IRB-approved studies on the correlation between lawyers' character strengths and professional success. Additionally, Dan provides traditional labor law counsel on an "of counsel" basis at Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP since October 2007. Previously, Dan held roles as Senior Vice-President of Human Resources and General Manager at Coca-Cola Enterprises from 1986 to 2006, and as a Partner at Smith Currie & Hancock from 1980 to 1986. Educational achievements include a Master of Applied Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, a Juris Doctor from Duke University School of Law, and a BA with honors in English from Millsaps College.
