Dr. Melissa M. Nelson

Dr. Melissa M. Nelson is an experienced educational leader currently serving as a School Safety & Security Training Subject Matter Expert at Sigma7 and a K-12 Schools Subject Matter Expert at UPMC's Southwestern PA Regional Threat Assessment Hub. Prior roles include Senior Vice President of Educational Services and Vice President of Academic Initiatives at New Story, as well as School Principal and Assistant Principal at Mount Lebanon School District. Earlier in their career, Dr. Nelson worked as an elementary and special education teacher at Canon-McMillan School District and has experience as an adjunct professor and educational assistant. Dr. Nelson holds a Doctor of Education in Administrative and Policy Studies from the University of Pittsburgh and multiple degrees and certifications in education, demonstrating a strong commitment to educational excellence and safety.
