Peter Coulson

Peter has just completed 36 years in the Royal Navy most recently serving as Devonport Naval Base Commander in Plymouth. Although specialising as a Weapons Engineer, his career has been broad and previous appointments have included: leading the RN’s surface ship through-life support portfolio; Combat System capability management; working in Private Office of Defence Ministers; Engineering and Training roles at the Devonport Waterfront; personnel policy in MOD; Space research; and service in HMS ILLUSTRIOUS and several Frigates.

Peter has a BEng in Engineering Science, an MSc in Satellite Communications Engineering, an MA in Defence Studies, holds a Certificate in Directorship from the IOD and completed the Major Projects Leadership Academy at the Saïd Business School, Oxford. Peter is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology and an Alumnus of the Windsor Leadership Trust. Other roles held include Non-Executive Director of Destination Plymouth, Chairman of Ice Sports for the RN Winter Sports’ Association and a Trustee of two charities.
