David Mather currently serves as the Associate Head of School (Students) for the School of Education, Languages and Linguistics at the University of Portsmouth, leading strategic initiatives in recruitment, retention, and student experience. With a background as a Senior Lecturer and Course Leader for the MSc in Educational Leadership and Management, David has also contributed to various roles within the School of Education & Sociology. Previous positions include Senior Teaching Fellow and Academic Lead for the Further Forces Programme, supporting military personnel transitioning to civilian educational roles. David's extensive experience in higher education includes roles such as Assistant Director at St Vincent College, where responsibilities encompassed marketing and curriculum development, as well as teaching A-level Sociology and other subjects. Educational qualifications span a Bachelor's degree in Politics and Sociology and advanced degrees in Education from the University of Portsmouth, and currently, David is pursuing a Doctor of Education.
