Dr Peter Howell

Dr. Peter Howell is a Senior Lecturer in Games Design at the University of Portsmouth, where responsibilities include coordinating and teaching units such as Games Research and Digital Prototyping. Additionally, Peter serves as an External Examiner for multiple institutions, including Queen's University Belfast and The Open University. As the Founder and Creative Director of Cold Cactus Games, Peter develops experimental titles linked to research within the university's Advanced Games Research Group. With extensive teaching experience spanning lecturing positions, supervision of undergraduate dissertations, and contributions as a designer/scripter for notable game titles, Peter has built a comprehensive career in the field of game design. Academically, Peter holds a Ph.D. in Disruptive Game Design and a Master’s degree in Psychology from the University of Portsmouth, alongside various other qualifications in computer games technology.
