Sam Robson

Co-director Of The Institute Of Life Sciences And Healthcare at University of Portsmouth

Sam Robson is a distinguished academic and researcher with extensive experience in bioinformatics and genomics. Currently serving as Co-Director of the Institute of Life Sciences and Healthcare and Professor of Genomics and Bioinformatics at the University of Portsmouth, Sam leads research focused on identifying novel enzymes for plastic degradation through whole-genome and transcriptome sequencing technology. Previous roles include Principal Research Fellow and Senior Research Fellow at the University of Portsmouth, where Sam directed projects in environmental microbiology and paleogenomics. Prior to this, Sam contributed as a bioinformatician at the Wellcome Trust/CRUK Gurdon Institute and as a statistical/mathematical biologist at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute. Sam holds a PhD, MSc, and BSc in Mathematical Biology and Biophysical Chemistry from the University of Warwick.
