Bill Koconis

Senior Director Of Development - Engineering at University of Rhode Island

Bill Koconis has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. In 1989, they worked as an Event Coordinator at The Newport Yachting Center. From 1997 to 2000, they served as an Operations Manager at Sail America, where they were responsible for planning and producing national Sail Expo trade shows. In 2000, they joined the American Heart Association as the Regional Vice President for Southern NE. From 2006 to 2014, they served as the Executive Director of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Rhode Island Chapter, overseeing fundraising, patient services, advocacy, and public policy issues. Bill then took on various roles at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, including National Director of the Student Series campaign, where they developed strategic visions for growth and managed national sponsor/partner relationships, and National Director of Innovation, where they researched and tested new campaign ideas. Since 2017, Bill has been working at the URI Foundation & Alumni Engagement as the Senior Director of Development - Engineering, planning and executing fundraising initiatives for the College of Engineering at the University of Rhode Island.

Bill Koconis attended the University of Rhode Island from 1985 to 1989, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and Media Studies.
