Andrew Hobbs is an accomplished academic and analyst with a strong background in agricultural and resource economics. Currently serving as an Assistant Professor at the University of San Francisco since August 2020, Andrew previously held a position as a Graduate Student Researcher at the University of California, Davis, where a novel index insurance product was designed to support pastoralist women and children in Kenya. Andrew's prior experience includes leading agriculture and forest protection initiatives at the Climate Policy Initiative in Mozambique, where collaboration with Barclays Africa took place, and analyzing solar leasing impacts in California. Early roles included research and teaching positions at the Sauder School of Business at UBC and the University of Utah, as well as project supervision with Amigos de las Americas in Nicaragua and Paraguay. Andrew holds a PhD in Agricultural and Resource Economics from the University of California, Davis, and a Master of Arts in Economics from The University of British Columbia, along with an Honors BS/BA in Economics and International Studies from the University of Utah.
