Professor Marie Wilson

Lead, The Future Workplace Project at University of South Australia

Professor Marie Wilson has a diverse and extensive work experience. Professor Marie has held several leadership positions in various academic organizations. Professor Marie started their career at NCR Corporation as a Compensation Manager, where they gained strategic HR knowledge. Professor Marie then moved on to The University of Auckland, where they served as the Head of Department for Management and International Business, leading the organization through mergers and rebuilding efforts. After that, they joined Griffith University as the Dean (Academic) of the Griffith Business School, overseeing the planning, operations, and performance management of the second-largest business school in Australasia. Currently, they are working at the University of South Australia as the Chief Academic Services Officer and the Lead for The Future Workplace project. In this role, they provide strategic leadership for academic services and collaborates with the executive team to implement the university's strategy. Prior to this, they also served as the Pro Vice Chancellor for Business and Law at the University of South Australia. Overall, Professor Wilson's work experience showcases their expertise in academic leadership and strategic planning.

Professor Marie Wilson obtained their Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Human Biology/Psychology from Florida State University in 1977. Professor Marie then pursued a double Masters in Rehabilitation Science/Neuroanatomy/Neurophysiology at Florida State University, which was completed in 1979. Professor Wilson went on to earn their Master of Science degree in Management/Statistics from the University of Arizona in an unspecified year, followed by a Doctor of Law degree in Contract and Employment Law from the same institution in 1984. Lastly, in 1990, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy degree in Higher Education/Employment Law from the University of Arizona. In 2017, Professor Wilson obtained the certification of Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
