Brian Collins Cb

Brian Collins CB, FREng, currently serves as Vice Chair of the National Preparedness Commission, focusing on national preparedness for extreme events since October 2020. In academia, Brian Collins holds positions as a Visiting Professor at the National University of Singapore and the University of Southampton, and serves as Emeritus Professor of Engineering Policy at University College London, where Brian previously acted as Convenor and Deputy Convenor of the UK Collaboratorium for Research on Infrastructure and Cities (UKCRIC). Brian's extensive career includes roles as Chief Scientific Adviser at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and the Department for Transport, as well as a professorship at Cranfield University. Prior industry experience includes serving as Global CIO at Clifford Chance and Head of IT at the Wellcome Trust. Academic qualifications include an MA and D.Phil in Physics and Astrophysics from the University of Oxford.
