Chris Brown

Chris Brown currently serves as the Professor of Education and Head of Southampton Education School at the University of Southampton since October 2023. Chris has held several prestigious academic positions, including Distinguished Visiting Professor at the University of Tübingen and Professor in Education at the University of Warwick. In addition, Chris is a member of the Young People & Education Committee at The Mercers’ Company and served as an Expert Advisor for the Teacher Engagement Advisory Group at the New South Wales Education Standards Authority. Previous roles include Professor in Education and Deputy Executive Dean (Research) at Durham University and Visiting Professor at the University of Duisburg-Essen. Chris holds a DPhil in Education from the University of Sussex and has extensive experience in education research and teaching, having contributed to various projects and initiatives throughout a distinguished career in academia.
