Lin Kooi Ong currently serves as the Medical Sciences Discipline Team Leader and Senior Lecturer at the University of Southern Queensland since April 2022. Prior experience includes roles as an Adjunct Lecturer and Lecturer at Monash University Malaysia from May 2019 to 2024, and multiple research-focused positions at the University of Newcastle, including Conjoint Fellow and Senior Research Fellow from April 2015 to 2024. Lin Kooi Ong's research is centered on translational stroke research, particularly exploring biological mechanisms of post-stroke cognitive impairment and the impact of chronic stress on recovery, as well as developing novel interventions for brain repair. Earlier research as a Research Associate at the University of Newcastle between March 2012 and December 2014 enhanced the understanding of stress biology and neurodegenerative processes related to peripheral inflammation and chronic stress. Lin Kooi Ong earned a PhD in Medical Biochemistry from the University of Newcastle, completing the degree in 2012.
