Matthew Richardson

Matthew Richardson currently serves as an Associate Professor and Space Program Director at the University of Southern Queensland since February 2024. Previously, Matthew held the position of Assistant Director - Space Transportation at the Australian Space Agency from August 2022 to February 2024. Their academic career includes an Assistant Professorship at The University of Tokyo from October 2019 to July 2022 and corporate instruction at ECC in Japan from January 2017 to September 2019. Matthew also gained experience as a Teaching Assistant at The University of Tokyo and as a Research Assistant at the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency between January 2017 and January 2019. Prior to their academic roles, Matthew worked as a Systems Engineer at Nova Systems from 2012 to 2016 and held engineering positions at EGR and Parsons Brinckerhoff. Matthew's educational background includes a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from The University of Tokyo, a Master of Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and various certificates in space studies and project management.
