Alasdair MacDonald

Alasdair Macdonald is a seasoned genealogist and educator, currently serving as a Teaching Fellow and researcher in the Genealogical Studies postgraduate program at the University of Strathclyde since September 2007. In addition to academic roles, Alasdair is a member of the Board of Directors at Birthlink, focusing on the welfare of individuals affected by adoption in Scotland since November 2015. Alasdair represents Scotland for Family Tree DNA, facilitating genetic genealogy initiatives and consulting on DNA testing for ancestry research. Leading Your Scottish Ancestry, Alasdair leverages over twenty-five years of genealogy experience to uncover documentary evidence from diverse sources. Alasdair's previous technical experience includes roles as a Project Manager and DNA Consultant at MacDonald and Rees Ltd, as well as positions in manufacturing and production technology within aerospace and defence sectors. Alasdair holds a Master’s Degree in Genealogical Studies from the University of Strathclyde.
