Laura Thomson

Laura Thomson serves as a Mathematics and Statistics Tutor and PhD Researcher at the University of Strathclyde, focusing on spatial models of Scottish fisheries and their economic implications. Additionally, Laura is a Pet Sitter for Cat in a Flat and has held the role of Fiscal Analyst at the Scottish Fiscal Commission since 2018. Laura's previous positions include Statistician at the International Energy Agency and OECD, along with earlier roles in statistics and administration at various organizations, including the Scottish Government and BNY Mellon. Laura holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics from the University of Strathclyde, a Master’s in Applied Mathematical Sciences from Heriot-Watt University, and degrees in Mathematics and Statistics and Finance from The Open University and SOAS University of London, respectively.
