Helen Benstead

Helen Benstead is an accomplished academic leader with extensive experience in education, currently serving as the Academic Director of the Graduate School at the University of Sunderland since August 2018. In this role, Helen leads the strategy for level 8 provisions, focusing on enhancing student experiences and outcomes. Previously, Helen held roles as an Associate Professor of Inclusive Education and Senior Lecturer, actively contributing to special and inclusive education research. As the founder and CEO of Inclusive Classrooms, Helen developed training and consultancy programs to promote social inclusion in mainstream primary schools. Helen's background also includes positions at the Greater London Authority, Cabinet Office, and University of York, complemented by a Doctor of Philosophy in Education from the University of York.
