Helen Cooper currently serves as the ACIT-Hub Lead at the Accelerated Compute Infrastructure Training Hub, overseeing a UKRI funded initiative aimed at developing a training program for Research Infrastructure Engineers in collaboration with leading universities. With an extensive background at the University of Surrey, Helen has held various roles including Lab/IT Facilities Manager and Project Officer, focusing on project management, proposal writing, and technology transfer within research environments. As a former Research Fellow, Helen contributed to an EU project on sign language translation, leveraging skills gained during a PhD in Computer Vision, which centered on Sign Language Recognition. Earlier career experiences include facilitating leadership courses and programming embedded software for mobile phone camera functions. Helen holds both a PhD in Computer Vision and a BEng in Electronic Engineering with French from the University of Surrey.
