Matthew Leach

Matthew Leach is an Emeritus Professor and Professor of Energy and Environmental Systems at the University of Surrey, where involvement spans from September 2007 to the present. As Director of the Centre for Environmental Strategy, Matthew Leach contributes to advancing sustainable development through an interdisciplinary approach. Additionally, as an independent energy consultant since June 2019, Matthew Leach primarily collaborates with the Modern Energy for Cooking Services consortium. Previous roles include serving as Vice President and Council member of the Energy Institute from 2007 to 2013 and as a Reader/Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London from 1995 to 2007. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Energy Policy and an MSc in Environmental Technology from Imperial College London, and a BEng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southampton.
