Michael Rosen

Chair, Department of Biophysics at UTSouthwestern Medical Center

Michael Rosen, Ph.D., was named Chair of the Department of Biophysics in April 2012. A member of the UT Southwestern Medical Center faculty since 2002, he was named an Investigator with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in 2005. His research is aimed at understanding the physical mechanisms and biological consequences of macromolecular phase separation.Before joining UT Southwestern, Dr. Rosen was an Associate Member of the Cellular Biochemistry and Biophysics Program at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and an Associate Professor of Biochemistry and Structural Biology at Weill Medical College of Cornell University.He holds a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Harvard University and a Certificate of Postgraduate Study in natural sciences from the University of Cambridge in England. He also holds bachelor’s degrees in chemistry and chemical engineering from the University of Michigan.
