Omer Waqar (Ph.D., P.Eng, Senior Member IEEE) serves as the Chair of Program Development and Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track) at the University of the Fraser Valley since August 2023, focusing on teaching courses related to operating systems and data structures and algorithms while conducting research in machine learning and wireless networks. Previously, Omer held the position of Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) at Thompson Rivers University from August 2019 to July 2023, where Omer developed several courses and lab experiments in engineering. Additional experience includes roles as a Wireless Systems Engineer at BLiNQ Networks, a visiting researcher at both the University of Toronto and the University of Surrey, and as an Assistant Professor at UET Lahore. Omer's research contributions have spanned various projects, including the development of machine learning algorithms for communication systems and energy harvesting protocols for wireless sensor networks. Educational credentials include a Ph.D. from the University of Leeds and an undergraduate degree from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore.
