Kenneth D. Wells, M.D. has over 20 years of health care experience, spanning occupational medicine, medical management, public health, family medicine, health education and pharmacy. Dr. Wells founded Alken Health Resources as an administrative resource to provide medical direction and service to Fortune size companies. His corporate experience includes program start-ups and reorganizations. He has developed and managed several national and international programs. The programs and management processes developed by Dr. Wells produced substantial savings and enhanced efficiencies for his clients.
Dr. Wells has held advisory positions with The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, The University of Texas College of Natural Sciences Advisory Council, The Washington Business Group on Health, and The Agency for Health Care Policy and Research. Dr. Wells has lectured frequently at national health conferences and universities; addressing health care policy, wellness and corporate health/ cost containment strategies.
He served 12 years in the U.S. Army Reserves and the Texas Army National Guard. His duties included commanding an aviation medicine facility and directing training for emergency medical evacuation and battlefield contingencies. He was previously named the U.S. Army National Guard Flight Surgeon of the Year.
Dr. Wells earned a masters degree in management from Northwestern University. His medical doctorate and masters in public health are from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. He has a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from Texas Southern University. He completed a fellowship in primary care policy with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. He completed residencies in occupational and family medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center and aviation medicine instruction at the U.S. Army School of Aerospace Medicine.
